Determination of the Relationship of Serum Hyaluronic Acid Levels to the Degree of Liver Fibrosis in Biopsies of Patients with Chronic Viral Hepatitis B & C

C injury to the liver leads to its fibrosis (1). Hepatitis B and C are examples of viral infections that cause chronic hepatitis; even asymptomatic patients show some degree of liver fibrosis (LF) that can range from mild to end-stage cirrhosis (2-4). Determining the degree of LF in chronic viral hepatitis is necessary in determining a patient’s prognosis and indications for therapy.
